资源简介:
These are the raw results of a survey of vascular plant species along two elevational gradients in the high Andes of central Chile (33°S). At the height of the austral summer season, homogeneous tracts of vegetation were selected at approximately 100 m elevation intervals along the two gradients: La Parva area ( 2500-3600 m a.s.l) and Valle Nevado area (2300-3700 m.a.s.l). At each sampling location, a 40 m x 40 m (1600 m2) plot was laid down, with the upper and lower sides placed parallel to the slope. The four corners of the plots and its centre were georeferenced with a Garmin Montana 680 GPS with the WGS 84 reference system. Additionally, the corners and center of each plot were fitted with a mettle stake to facilitate future location. Three observers scrutinized the plots to record all vascular plant species present. Where needed, occasional herbarium specimens were collected to assure correct identification. Specimens were identified at the University of Concepción (CONC) herbarium and will be deposited there. The raw data is included in a file that contains four sheets. The first sheet provides detailed location data for the plots, including geoferences, altitude, orientation and sampling dates. The second and thirds sheets contain the species recorded in each individual plot along the two altitudinal gradients, respectively. The fourth sheet provides the scientific names, families, life form and native/non native status of the 168 species recorded in the plots. This information is being used to test the hypothesis that harsh conditions of the alpine act as environmental filters and promoters of diversification, originating more phylogenetically clustered communities at higher elevations.
