In this study, we isolated and characterized 56 strains of Bifidobacterium, collected from breastfed infant faeces in China, and evaluated their a-glucosidase inhibitory activities. The candidate probiotic strain B. lactis A12 has the potential to inhibit the utilization, absorption, and transport of glucose, and reduce fat accumulation.
