Zr3Rh crystallizes in the tetragonal I-4 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are three inequivalent Zr sites. In the first Zr site, Zr is bonded in a distorted water-like geometry to two equivalent Rh atoms. Both Zr–Rh bond lengths are 2.81 Å. In the second Zr site, Zr is bonded in a water-like geometry to two equivalent Rh atoms. There are one shorter (2.79 Å) and one longer (2.80 Å) Zr–Rh bond lengths. In the third Zr site, Zr is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Rh atoms. There are a spread of Zr–Rh bond distances ranging from 2.72–2.96 Å. Rh is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to eight Zr atoms.
