Siganus fuscescens whole genome sequence

De novo sequencing of the Siganus fuscescens (mottled spinefoot) isolated from Jogashima Island in Japan. Total genomic DNA was extracted from testis and sequenced using NanoPore GridION-Mk1 for long reads and Illumina NovaSeq for short reads. The objective of this study is to assemble the first representative draft genome for the siganidae family and characterize the genome to aid in aquaculture initiatives, solve classification issues and understand the evolution and adaptation of the species.
