Data Set The ‘perceptions of safety at the workplace’ was measured using a 5-point Likert Scale (strongly disagree to strongly agree, where category 1 = highly disagree, 2 = disagree, 3 = do not know, 4 = agree and 5 = strongly agree). The number of categories was consolidated from five (5) to three (3), where category 1 represents strongly disagree, disagree and do not know, which denotes poor perceptions; category 2 represents agree which denotes average perceptions; and lastly, category 3 represents strongly agree and denotes high perceptions of safety at the workplace. The effectiveness of OHS training was assessed using the following variables: • knowledge of the constituents of processing chemicals • perceptions about the danger of processing chemicals, i.e. whether the chemicals are hazardous or toxic • perceptions of the importance of protection from exposure to processing chemicals • knowledge of Darkroom Diseases • perceptions of susceptibility to Darkroom Disease • perceptions of the threat of Darkroom Disease to one’s health
