Biochar is a recognized tool for soil carbon (C) sequestration and climate change mitigation. However, the effectiveness of chemical modifications, such as alkali and alkaline earth metal enrichment, in enhancing C stability and reducing N2O emissions under field conditions has yet to be established. The objective of this study was to assess whether the modification of biochars can enhance their C sequestration potential while mitigating N₂O emissions under field conditions, thereby supporting more sustainable agricultural soil management
