China Environmental and Natural Resource Crime Judicial Records Dataset (CENRC-JRD)

Information on environmental and natural resource crime is often dispersed across unstructured court judgments, limiting large-scale spatiotemporal research. Here, we present a case-level dataset of environmental and natural resource crime judicial records in China. We retrieved judgments from China Judgments Online and processed them using large language model-based extraction, temporal standardization, geocoding, deduplication and appeal linkage. The resulting dataset contains 156,843 records, with judgment years spanning 2000-2026 and incident locations covering 31 provincial-level, 364 prefecture-level and 2,793 county- or district-level administrative units. Each JSONL record contains anonymized text and structured information on the case, parties, time, location, damage and judgment outcomes. The records preserve one-to-many relationships among offenses, defendants, time periods and locations within cases. The dataset supports spatiotemporal comparisons, research on judicial responses and linkage with external data sources.
