Expression data from retina and reinoblastoma tumour samples

Retinoblastoma (Rb) progresses from retina to noninvasive Rb and then into invasive Rb. Global gene expression changes leading to these changes were investigated presently in Rb subtypes. The pathological staging of the tumours is compared to global gene expression profiles. We used microarrays to detail the global programme of gene expression underlying cellularisation and identified distinct classes of up-regulated genes during this process. Retina and Rb subtypes tissues were obtained from donor eyeballs and informed concent respectively. RNA extraction extraction and hybridization on Affymetrix microarrays were performed to under stand tumour progression with an intent to identify candidate biomarkers for Rb diagnosis and therapy.
