This dataset provides comprehensive insights into the Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) and biogas composition of residual biomass obtained after phycocyanin extraction. The study evaluates the biogas recovery potential of the residual biomass using various substrate-to-inoculum (S/I) ratios.
Experimental Details:
Residual Biomass: Phycocyanin-extracted residual biomass from microalgae.
Inoculum Source: Biomass valorisation company (Innolab, Belgium).
Setup:
140 mL serum bottles filled with 50 mL inoculum, 70 mL demi water, and varying weights of dried biomass to achieve S/I ratios of 1, 2, 3, and 4 (standardised by grams of volatile solids, gVS).
Total working volume: 120 mL.
Incubation: 37 °C water bath for 21 days.
Biogas Measurement:
Biogas production was measured daily using a syringe.
Biogas was collected in Tedlar bags and analysed using a gas analyser (Geotech–BIOGAS5000).
Dataset Includes:
Daily biogas production data for each S/I ratio.
Biogas composition analysis results, including methane and carbon dioxide.
