Organism Sample Using Sweep Net and Transect in York University Grassland

The purpose of collecting this data was to practice using sweep nets and transects in collecting sample data on organism density within a grassland. Data was collected from the grassland, located south of Chimneystack Road, on the York University Keele campus. Collaborated with Hasan Hamam, Angela Joseph, and Enrique Sapena Ventura. Ten transects were laid out along the grassland, five running west to east every ten paces along the west side of the lot, and five running north to south every 10 paces starting at the north edge of the lot. Transects measured 20 meters and were walked for approximately 5 minutes each. Weather conditions during sampling were windy with a moderate rain, and less species than expected were captured using this method.
