The involvement of toxin-antitoxin systems in the acetic acid resistance of Acetobacter pasteurianus Ab3

TASs comprise a diverse range of genetic elements, usually have a pair of genes encoding a stable toxin and an unstable antitoxin that counteracts the toxin. Under stressful conditions, the toxic effect is released by degrading the relative antitoxin, which perturbs essential cellular processes such as DNA replication, protein translation and DNA transcription. This project aims to examine how TASs regulate the gene expression under extreme acid stress.
