Metatranscriptomic profiling of seasonal and crop-specific microbial and viral communities in hydroponic effluents from tomato and paprika cultivation

This project investigates the seasonal and crop-specific dynamics of microbial and viral communities in hydroponic effluents from tomato and paprika cultivation systems. Using RNA-based metatranscriptomic analysis, we identified temporal shifts in active bacterial, fungal, and viral populations across spring and autumn seasons. The findings highlight the ecological complexity of closed-loop hydroponic systems and emphasize the need for improved microbial surveillance strategies to enhance biosafety and sustainability in controlled agriculture.
