This file set contains a single dataset Final Open Educational Resources differentiation in Global South dataset_sent_24_04_2020_excel.csv, in .csv file format.The dataset contains the information about 28 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in 9 countries (Brazil, Chile, Colombia; Ghana, Kenya, South Africa; India, Indonesia, Malaysia). It contains the answers of the 26-question survey applied to the students, and consists of a total of are 4784 entries.The following fields were filled in:• Electronic consent• The name of your educational institution• Your country• Gender• Age range• Your digital proficiency• Where do you access the internet?• What device/s do you use to connect to the Internet?• To what extent are you satisfied with the Internet connection where you mostfrequently access it?• Which language do you feel most comfortable with academic reading?• Which language do you feel most comfortable with academic writing?• When watching educational videos that are not in your first language, you prefer those videos to be: choose from: Dubbed (audio translation to my first language), Subtitled in my first language, Subtitled in the original language or in original language, unchanged.• English proficiency• Primary area in which you study• Created my own, Use others’ “as is” (copy), Modified/edited or combinedOthers’, shared my own or modified versions with others (distribute), Never created, used, modified or shared for example PDF, images (full list is given in the dataset)• Please indicate the activities that you undertake if you USE educational resources• Please indicate the activities that you undertake if you CREATE educationalresources.• Have you used any licenses to express the rights others have to use materials youhave created/edited/modified/combined?• How do you usually share with others (distribute) Educational Resources that youhave copied, created, edited/modified, or combined?• Please indicate how important are the following factors (for example Bringing down costs for students) as potential motivators for you to use/reuse Educational Resources.• To what extent do the following barriers (for example, lack of access to the Internet), influence your use/reuse of Educational Resources?• Have you ever used Open Educational Resources (OER) that are available in the public domain or has an open license (e.g. Creative Commons) that allows it to be used and/or adapted by others?• Perceived usefulness – The extent you believe that OER may enhance learningoutcomes.• Playfulness - The extent to which you may enjoy OER.• Intention to use - The extent to which you may intend to use OER.• Perceived ease of use - The extent to which you may believe that OER will be easyto use. The study’s survey dataset compares respondents’ Open Educational Resources (OER) use against a variety of demographic, contextual and pedagogical variables to understand which factors seem to have the greatest influence on whether, instructors/students from Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in the Global South, have used OER. There are 4784 entries of a 26-question survey applied to students in the 2015-2017 period, addressing the following themes: personal demographics, infrastructure access, institutional environment, instructor attitudes, and open licensing.For details on the design of the survey, please read the related article.
