VPRS 960 Vouchers Sent to the Audit Office

The Colonial Engineer (including the office of the Colonial Architect) was responsible for the construction and maintenance of public buildings.The volume in this series summarises the vouchers (or orders for payment) forwarded to the Audit Office by the Colonial Engineers office. Payments for some purposes were made by cheque and these are listed on the righthand side of a double page. On the lefthand side are listed the details of payment made through presentation of a voucher. These details give the name of the project to which the payment relates, the date, the number of the voucher, the reasons for the payment the name of the person being paid and the amount. Payments were for the supply of materials and fittings, for wages and for work done by tradesman and contractors.
