Domestic waste emissions to European freshwaters in the 2010s (v. 1.0)

Mean annual domestic waste emissions (Population Equivalent, 5-days Biochemical Oxygen Demand BOD5, Nitrogen and Phosphorus) to freshwater network. Estimation of domestic waste emissions to waters is needed for pollution assessment and modelling. Quantity and location of domestic waste emissions to European freshwaters are provided for the 2010s. Specifically, the dataset reports mean annual domestic waste emissions in terms of Population Equivalent (PE), and loads (t/y) of total Nitrogen, total Phosphorus, and 5-days Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD). The assessment is based on available European databases, population density and national statistics data. The spatial resolution and extent of the analysis corresponded to the CCM2 River and Catchment Database for Europe. Data distribution provided as attribute table of CCM 2.1 elementary catchment polygons.
