The code consists of 5 scripts, which are used to create Figures 2, 3a, 3b, 3c, and 4 in Python.
Files:
For Figure 2, the data file is:
-“rcemip_iwp-resolved_statistics.nc” includes the ice water content data from ten models in the RCEMIP project under the scenario of surface temperature rise.
For Figure 3a, the data files are as follows:- The vertical profile of geopotential height is named "geo vertical profile.nc".- The vertical profile of ice water content is named "iwcswc vertical profile.nc".- The vertical profile of temperature is named "t vertical profile.nc".
For Figure 3b, the data files are:- "tciw_tcsw_79_21_yearly.nc" contains the IWP data from ERA5 reanalysis for the years 1979 to 2021.- "ERA5_deep_convection_events_79_21.csv" includes the number of deep convection events calculated from ERA5 reanalysis for the period 1979–2021.- "ERA5_ice_content_of_increasing_and_decreasing_area.xlsx" contains the increased ice content in the increasing area and the decreased ice content in the decreasing area calculated from ERA5 reanalysis.
For Figure 3c, the data files are:- "ERA5_deep_convection_events_79_21.csv" (same as for Figure 3b).- "TRMM_deep_convection_events_percent_threshold.csv" includes the number of deep convection events calculated using TRMM satellite observations.
For Figure 4, the data files are:- "tciw_tcsw_79_21_yearly.nc" (same as for Figure 3b).- "ERA5_cloudice_1940_2023.npy" contains the cloud ice content calculated from ERA5 reanalysis for the years 1940 to 2023 (only the data up to 2021 were used to ensure consistent time series).- "JRA55_cloudice.npy" contains the cloud ice content calculated from JRA55 reanalysis for the years 1979 to 2021.- "MERRA2_cloudice.npy" contains the cloud ice content calculated from MERRA2 reanalysis for the years 1980 to 2021.
