Metagenomes of microbial communities living with low-density polyethylene as sole carbon and energy source

Polyethylene is one of the most abundantly found plastic pollutant in the ocean,and whether certain microorganisms are capable of degrading it in the environment, remains unknown. This study aimed at understanding the potential metabolic pathways involved in the degradation of low-density polyethylene in marine environments, by members of the plastic biofilm community.
