This dataset is designed to assess water use efficiency in Central Asia and monitor the temporal variations of Central Asia's water use efficiency corresponding to SDG indicator 6.4.1. It comprises two sub-datasets: one is the summer ecosystem water use efficiency (WUE) dataset spanning 2000 to 2019, and the other is the water consumption per 10,000 USD of GDP in the five Central Asian countries from 1997 to 2016.
Each raster file in the summer WUE dataset corresponds to the ecosystem water use efficiency of a single year. For instance, the file WUE-CentralAsia2000.tif refers to the summer WUE in Central Asia in 2000.
The total water consumption data per 10,000 USD of GDP for the five Central Asian countries is primarily sourced from the World Bank (https://data.worldbank.org/country), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (http://www.fao.org/nr/water/aquastat/data/query/index), the United Nations Data Retrieval System (http://data.un.org/), and the State Committee on Statistics of the Kyrgyz Republic (http://www.stat.kg/en/statistics/selskoe-hozyajstvo/).
