Studies of microbial sequencing of a rat short bowel syndrome model.

To determine whether the bacterial flora changes by the small-intestinalized colon operation, we performed metagenomic sequencing of intestinal luminal contents in a rat short bowel syndrome model. We compared the compositions of microbiota among the total resection group, the subtotal resection group (1 cm or 3 cm of the ileum preserved), the ileum organoid-transplanted group, and the colon organoid-transplanted group.
