Worldwide diversity of endophytic fungi associated with dormant tree twigs

The assessment of fungal endophytes associated with dormant tree twigs was done across broad geographic and climatic gradients and for many hosts. The goal of the study was to assess the relative importance of factors that shape the diversity of fungal endophytes on a large scale, and to assess the risk of introducing non-native fungal pathogens via trade of dormant tree material.
