Genome sequencing and assembly of G. purpurascens using long PacBio reads

We sequenced and assembled one Hainan Island cotton (HIC) named as "HPF17" by integrating high-coverage PacBio long-read sequencing, Illumina paired-end sequencing and Hi-C technologies. Whole-genome sequencing and comparative genomic analyses reveal that the HIC belongs to G. purpurascens and is best classified as a semidomesticated race of G. hirsutum.
