In August 2024, Thailand produced around 1.6 billion units of integrated circuits (IC). In that same period, the production capacity of IC was over 2.4 billion units. Most of the electrical and electronics products manufactured in Thailand were for export.Electronics manufacturing in ThailandThailand attracts foreign manufacturers for electronics due to its location in the center of the Asia Pacific region, low labor cost, and government promotion for foreign investments. In 2019, Thailand ranked 13th as the largest manufacturing hub for electronics globally.In August 2024, the production capacity of printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) amounted to over 65 million pieces.Electronics for exportingIn the first quarter of 2024, the export value of electronics from Thailand reached almost 11.6 billion U.S. dollars. Demand from the core markets was increasing, especially in the United States and China. In 2022, the United States was the leading destination for Thailand’s electronics exports, with an export value share of around 32 percent. The ASEAN countries were subsequently followed with a share of approximately 16 percent. In the same year, hard disk drives were exported the most among all the electronics products manufactured in Thailand. The export value of computer parts and equipment accounted for more than 34 percent of total electronics exports.
