This data set contains the results of the Sanger Sequencing based DNA barcoding seafood tissue samples from sushi sold in grocery stores and sushi restaurants across Ontario, Canada. It also contains the results of the metabarcoding of the sushi samples when pooled into 21 sample pools with each sample pool containing 2-20 seafood tissue samples from sushi, detected by Sanger sequencing analysis above. The Sanger sequencing was carried out using hierarchical primer amplification approach using universal Fish COI primer as key primer and 12S and 16S based primers as alternatives. Metabarcoding of each primer pool was carried out using five primers, MiTuna, MiFish, MiDeca_MiOcto, SSU and Mini_SH_D and Mini_SH_E primers. Five control sample pools, C1-C5 were also tested, in addition (2021-12-01).
