Biogenic Carbon and Land Occupation per m3 of Sawnwood by European Union Member State Conifer Species

Life Cycle Inventory Data Sources and Assumptions Country Forest Standing Stock Dominant Conifer Species (FAO,2020), Specific Wood Density (t/m³) (Pilli et al., 2024a), Min Rotation Period (years) (Pilli et al., 2024a), Even Aged Forest Growth Curve (m³/ha/yr) at Final Cut (Pilli et al., 2024b), Final Cut as % of Harvest (Thinning’s the Remaining %) to estimate Total Merchantable Wood (Pilli et al., 2024a), Sawlog as % of Total Merchantable Wood, (Eurostat, 2023), Sawnwood as % of Sawlog (Excluding Moisture Loss) (FAO, ITTO, UNECE, 2020). Life Cycle Assessment Result Units Biogenic Carbon: tCO₂/m³ sawn wood by conifer species at 70%, 20%, and 10% moisture contents. Land Occupation: m²·yr/m³ sawn wood by conifer species at 10% moisture content.
