We investigated a set of maize genes associated with flowering regulation and inflorescence development, including CONSTANS-like genes, tasselseed regulators, Indeterminate spikelet1, KNOTTED1-like homeobox genes, and MADS-box transcription factors. We performed a comprehensive promoter analysis to identify potential transcription factor binding sites.
In this collection, transcription factor binding sites (TFBS) were identified in the promoter regions of selected maize (Zea mays) genes (between −2000 bp and +1000 bp relative to the transcription start site) using the JASPAR CORE 2018 Plants motif database, with a strict p ≤ 0.0001 threshold.
A separate output file was created for each gene (e.g. ), which contains the following information:
the identifier of the examined gene (e.g. GRMZM2G017087), the names of the detected transcription factors, the genomic positions of the motifs belonging to each TF within the promoter region,
and the “no hit found” marking for those TFs where no significant binding sites were found
