Replication package — Plural pathways of adaptation: a typology of Chinese listed firms' responses to the 2021 patent reform

This repository contains the data and code required to reproduce the empirical results of the manuscript, which examines the heterogeneous firm-level responses of 1,256 Chinese Main Board listed firms to the 27 January 2021 patent reform (withdrawal of filing-stage subsidies). The analysis documents three stylized facts: (i) an aggregate post-shock slowdown of −0.33 pp masking a sharp invention/utility model divergence (+4.28 pp / −7.55 pp); (ii) a nine-profile hierarchical clustering on the 50 most active filers; (iii) a cross-sectional test rejecting digitalization as a general resilience mechanism. The package permits exact replication of all tables and figures in the manuscript and online supplement.
