Pacific Rim Earthquake Engineering Mitigation Protective Technologies International Virtual Environment (PREEMPTIVE)

This project developed international connections between US junior faculty and some senior US faculty mentors with counterparts in Japan, New Zealand and Chile -- countries that have, in the past decade, experienced significant earthquake-induced natural disasters -- so that the US faculty can see first-hand the effects of these earthquakes, discuss the effectiveness (or failures) of seismic protective systems in those earthquakes, and preemptively develop research plans to help the US and other countries be better prepared for the next major earthquake. As part of this project, some educational modules were developed and are posted here.
