SEM-Based Morphological and Chemical Characterization of Particulate Matter in San Miguel de Tucumán (Aug 2019–Aug 2020)

The size and chemical composition of airborne particulate matter collected in the city of San Miguel de Tucumán between August 2019 and August 2020 were determined using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).Samples were collected by passive sedimentation onto standardized adhesive tapes, and analyzed through SEM image processing. Particles were classified by size into Dust, PM₁₀, and PM₂.₅, and by chemical composition into silica-rich or terrigenous particles (PMT), and carbon-rich or carbonaceous particles (PMC).
