Differential gene expression analysis was done on Salmonella Heidelberg (SH) strains from 2014 and 1992 after exposure to disinfectants (CPC, aCH and PAA) commonly used in the poultry processing plant. The goal of the study was to identify differences in RNA gene expression with a focus on genes related to virulence, pathogenicity, resistance and heat shock proteins (VPRH genes) to better understand how different disinfectant treatments can affect SH that are still viable after being challenged in a poultry processing environment.
