Dark Skies as Added Value in Tourism - Survey for Tourism Products and Service Providers

The material consists of anonymized tables that compile the experiences of tourism industry service providers and organizations regarding the utilization of dark skies in tourism, as well as their perspectives on how dark skies can add value to services. Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic GLOW2.0 – Green Energy Technologies for Tourism Growth project aimed to support enterprises and public organisations in developing tourism flow during the dark autumn and winter months, using darkness of nature and Dark Sky as additional elements for diversifying the tourism package, while effectively communicating light pollution and ways to prevent and reduce it. This survey is a result of joint effort by all NPA GLOW2.0 partners who worked together to identify the needs of target audience during the first project period 1.12.2022 – 31.05.2023. The survey was hosted by Webropol platform through the project’s Lead Partner (LP) Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Karelia UAS). The survey was available for respondents in five languages i.e., English, Finnish, Norwegian, Icelandic, and Irish Gaelic. The survey was open between 1.4.2023 – 15.5.2023 until 16:00 (Helsinki Time). A total of 99 responses were received by the deadline. The material is multilingual: in addition to English, it includes Finnish, Norwegian, Icelandic, and Irish.
