Transport activity of E. coli LJ110 during growth on various carbohydrates and LB.

1Specific activity in nmol/min×mg protein;2pyruvate set as 100%; mid-log cells grown aerobically at 37°C in LB, or in minimal medium supplemented with (0.2%) carbohydrates, were washed and tested for [1-14C] pyruvate uptake (6 µM final concentration) as described in materials and methods. Results are mean averages from at least 3 independent experiments. Standard deviations were less than 10%.
