Physiological and pathophysiological changes following sleeve gastrectomy

The thesis investigates the clinical aspects, mechanical physiology and pathophysiology processes specific to sleeve gastrectomy. It identified clinical problems potentially linked to physiological and pathophysiological changes, namely sleeve leaks and gastro-oesophageal reflux. Targeted and detailed clinical and physiological investigations were undertaken to define processes and outcomes. Several novel findings of altered oesophagogastric physiology of normally functioning sleeved stomachs were defined, along with pathophysiology and diagnosis of reflux.
