Influence of age on the knowledge of climate change and the information contained on energy efficiency labels in the City of Buenos Aires

<b>ABSTRACT</b>Climate change is a result of the intensive use of energy since the time of the industrial revolution. In addition, this change has increased in recent years. In this research, we will examine the use of energy efficiency labels in the city of Buenos Aires as an effective tool for mitigating climate change. For this purpose, we will analyse how these types of labels are used to overcome information asymmetries that can lead to market failures (de Ayala &amp; Foudi, 2021; Heinzle &amp; Wüstenhagen, 2012). Additionally, we will examine how certain consumers make purchasing decisions regarding higher energy-efficienct products and how energy labels affect these decisions. We will also investigate how these personal choices contribute to climate change mitigation. In addition, we will examine the socio-historical context in which these consumers behave and the legal framework governing such labels in Argentina. Furthermore, we will discuss the main findings of a survey conducted in February 2021 among consumers in the aforementioned city. Finally, we will offer some brief conclusions and recommendations.<br>
