资源简介:
This dataset contains all the geographic metadata associated with samples collected from the Poulsen Nunataks, Dronning Louise Land, Greenland in May 2024 for luminescence rock surface dating. These samples were collected for an Office of Polar Programs doctoral dissertation award, in tandem with the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded GreenDrill proposal. In particular, luminescence measurements from these samples are being used to test the hypothesis that the Northeast Greenland Ice Stream was not at a reduced state during Marine Isotope Stage 3 (~60-29 ka (kilo annum)). We collected 15 ~3 cm (centimeter) diameter bedrock cores using a handheld battery operated drill with diamond coring bits. We also collected 6 cobbles, to test whether these might record additional information on ice-sheet stability at our site. Depth-resolved (every ~1mm (millimeter)) infrared-stimulated luminescence measurements from portions of these cores using a Risø DA-20 luminescence reader are forthcoming. These measurements should provide constraints on the duration of Holocene exposure related to ice-thinning at this site and address our hypothesis regarding a potential ice-sheet minimum of the Northeast Greenland Ice Stream during Marine Isotope Stage 3.
