16S rRNA gene (pico- and nanoplankton fractions) from the Blanes Bay Microbial Observatory (BBMO), sampled between 2013 and 2016

This study includes 16S rRNA gene sequences targeting the V4–V5 hypervariable region obtained from pico- and nanoplankton samples collected at the Blanes Bay Microbial Observatory (BBMO). Samples were collected monthly from April to December 2013, throughout 2014 and 2015, and from January to August 2016. PCR amplification was performed using the Parada primers 515F-Y (5'-GTGYCAGCMGCCGCGGTAA) and 926R (5'-CCGYCAATTYMTTTRAGTTT), which amplify an approximately 400 bp fragment of the 16S rRNA gene and target both Bacteria and Archaea (Parada et al. 2016). The dataset comprises 42 samples from the picoplankton fraction and 40 samples from the nanoplankton fraction. All samples correspond to surface waters.
