In the fiscal year 2023, insurance products covering household goods and belongings accounted for about 78 percent of policies in force of small amount and short-term insurance companies in Japan. Small amount and short-term insurance companies offer so-called mini insurance products with low premiums. Depending on the type of product, the period of insurance ranges from one to two years, and insurance benefits are limited to certain amounts.
