Non-coding RNA profiling by microarray in an Affymetrix® miRNA Array, version 4.1 (Santa Clara, CA, USA), commercially available by Thermo Fisher Scientific (Waltham, MA) We aimed to profile the expression of the entire population of annotated small non-coding RNAs in the Temporal Cortex (TC) of Alzheimer diseased (AD) individuals compared to age-matched controls. The microarray expression platform chosen was the Affymetrix® miRNA Array, version 4.1, targeting coverage of miRBase v20 that encompasses 2,578 mature and 2,025 imature (pre-miRNA) human probe sets. Samples obtained from post-mortem TC of 16 cases, 8 from AD patients (Braak stage III or above) and 8 control individuals without neuropathological lesions or neurological signs.
