Data for "Tethys2025: A fusion 3D velocity model of the Tethyan crust and mantle"

The tectonic evolution of the Tethyan realm, spanning the boundaries of Eurasia, Africa, India, and Australia, significantly influences today's climate, biodiversity, and geology. Establishing a three-dimensional Tethyan crust-mantle velocity model provides an instantaneous view of this process, essential for understanding major events like the Tethys closure, India-Eurasia collision, and Himalayan formation. However, existing seismic tomographic results of the region are inconsistent, increasing the uncertainty in geological interpretations. By deconstructing and refitting multiple-scale features in existing models, we conducted a secondary inversion for 129 previously published models. The resulting fusion model, named Tethys2025, provides a unified crust-mantle image of the entire Tethyan realm. This study also presents a strategy for progressively aligning the fusion model with the actual crust-mantle structure.
