Perché scrivere in griko?

Griko needs to be written if you wish to give this minority language, which encompasses a small territory of Salento, the chance to survive its disappearance as a language of communication. In order to adequately represent such a language that tradition handed down to us only in its orality, however, the written form has to respect some fundamental criteria which are the same as the ones recalled in the poetic text the relationship starts from. First of all by writing correctly: that is, by reproducing precisely and clearly the rules that underlie the language. Then by adapting to its semantic heritage, which is linked above all to the peasants' civilization, in which context griko lived on. Finally, by trying to witness, through the language, the history and culture of the past, as an essential element of identity to be proposed to the upcoming generations.
