Number of Nordic Walking Clubs in France 2020, by region

The Paris region is the French region with the most Nordic walking clubs. In second place comes Haut-de-France and New-Aquitaine, with more than fifty athletic clubs offering this activity each. Nordic walking is a derivative of hiking. Unlike hiking, there, the athlete is assisted by two hiking poles to help propel him forward. This practice, coming from the Nordic countries, was originally an alternative activity for skiers during the summer. This practice has become increasingly widespread in other European countries in the last two decades.
