This dataset includes the data and code for analysis of the paper 'Reward produces learning of a consciously inaccessible feature'.This paper revealed that reward learning does not require awareness of the rule of reward delivery using several experiments. In Experiment 1a, 36 subjects finished a b-CFS task. They received a reward only when they correctly discriminate the target that was presented to one of the eyes (rewarded eye). Since the subjects normally could not tell the eye-of-origin of the target, they were also not aware of in which condition they could get a reward. Surprisingly, we found that targets in the rewarded eye broken into awareness more frequently than those in the other eye. Experiment 1b examined the effect of attention during the reward learning. 14 subjects finished a b-CFS task that was similar to Experiment 1a except that the target was presented on the peripheral area and subjects had to perform a central fixation RSVP task at the same time. In Experiment 2a-c, we investigated whether the eye-based reward learning could occur without CFS. Subjects performed monocular target discrimination task/contrast detection task/orientation discrimination task with reward delivered only to the rewarded eye. Experiment 3 studied whether we can still observe the eye-specific learning effect when reward is also related to another feature that could be consciously accessible. 34 subjects performed a b-CFS task with the reward associated not only to the eye-of-origin of the target but also the orientation of it. In Experiment 4, 96 subjects finished an experiment that was similar to Experiment 1a but only had 2 short sessions. They completed a questionnaire after the experiments to check if they could detect the rule of reward delivery.
