We sampled Pinot noir clone 667 clusters from 15 vineyards in California and Oregon for the 2019 vintage. Fruit was harvested from each vineyard site at approximately 24 Brix and transported to the University of California, Davis Teaching and Research winery where it was fermented into wine using pilot-scale fermentations. Pre-pitch grape must was analyzed after three days of cold soaking. To describe the microbial communities, we conducted 16S rRNA gene and ITS-1 amplicon sequencing.
