Combinatorial effect of serotonin and indole on enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) transcriptome

Previous studies have shown serotonin and indole downregulate expression of virulence genes in EHEC, here we demonstrate the combinatorial effect of serotonin and indole on EHEC transcriptome EHEC strain 86 24 was used for this study. WT EHEC was grown with 10 µM serotonin, 500 µM indole or both of them together in low-glucose DMEM until late log phase under aerobic conditions. RNA was extracted from these samples. The experiment was conducted with three biological replicates.
