资源简介:
This project employs metagenomic sequencing to investigate the microbial mechanisms underlying photoelectron-assisted antimonate [Sb(V)] reduction (PESbR) in mining-impacted anoxic sediments. We focus on the novel process where dissolved organic matter (DOM) acts as a photosensitizer, generating photoelectrons under illumination that are subsequently utilized by indigenous sediment microbiota for Sb(V) reduction. Metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) and gene annotation reveal the taxonomic identity and functional potential of key microorganisms mediating this process, which is distinct from conventional heterotrophic respiration. Our findings highlight the significance of DOM as a photoelectron donor and provide genomic insights into microbial Sb redox cycling, offering implications for the natural attenuation and bioremediation of antimony contamination in aquatic ecosystems.
