Data and code for: European Textile Waste Statistics Record Managed Waste, Not Generation
收藏资源简介:
Supporting data and code for the Letter "European Textile Waste Statistics Record Managed Waste, Not Generation" (Md Hasan Al Mamun, Muhammad Shahjalal, Yaming Jiang; submitted to Environmental Science & Technology Letters, 2026). Eurostat publishes the only statutory country-level textile waste series, W076, as waste generation. The study audits what it contains: it records waste entering managed channels, 27–30% of EEA-estimated generation in the EU27; households supplied 14.8% of reported mass in 2004 and 44.0% in 2022, textile manufacturing 64.2% and 24.2%, and waste-management activities 2.2% and 11.1%. The same 1.02 Mt of recycling in 2022 is 73.9% of treated mass but 12–19% of generation under ±30% uncertainty in the mixed-waste component, and 8.1% of the 12.6 Mt estimate in Directive (EU) 2025/1892. Six countries report treating more textile waste than they generate; net trade does not explain it. Contents: (1) source data exactly as retrieved: Eurostat env_wasgen (W076 by NACE activity in tonnes, and kg per capita), env_wastrt and demo_pjan; EEA Circularity Metrics Lab indicators; trade in HS 6309 and 6310 from Eurostat Comext and UN Comtrade. (2) Derived tables behind every table and figure, including key_results.csv, which lists every number quoted in the text. (3) Python code that regenerates all tables and figures from the archived files (python run_all.py; no internet connection needed). (4) Figures as PDF and PNG. Version 1.1.0 adds the full activity breakdown, a sensitivity analysis of the generation estimate, a trade test, stability diagnostics on unrounded data, and the corresponding figures.
