Typing of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is important in infection control and surveillance, and includes the typing of the staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec) carrying methicillin resistant gene, mecA or mecC. Here, were report about the development and evaluation of SCCmecFinder,.an easy-to-use tool for characterization of the SCCmec element from whole-genome sequencing data of S. aureus.
