资源简介:
"Paradox of Plenty: Why Delhi Drowns and Thirsts every year?" is the question, We are answering with #GRMP Global Rainwater Management Program. {This APPLIES TO ALL CITIES/DISTRICTS/PROVINCES/NATIONS WITH MORE THAN 300MM AVERAGE ANNUAL RAINFALL}.
.
Despite being located on the Yamuna River and receiving abundant monsoon rainfall, Delhi experiences both severe flooding and acute water scarcity. This presentation explores this paradox, highlighting a critical failure in urban water management.
The root cause lies in mismanagement and poor infrastructure. Widespread concretization has led to a loss of permeable surfaces, preventing rainwater from recharging groundwater. Instead, it becomes a destructive force, overwhelming an outdated and clogged drainage system. Concurrently, a reliance on distant, often polluted, rivers, coupled with leaky pipes and rampant groundwater extraction, leaves the city thirsty.
The presentation will conclude by advocating for a decentralized and sustainable approach, focusing on rainwater harvesting, storm water management, and aquifer recharge.
.
This presentation offers a solution-oriented approach to Delhi's water paradox, focusing on integrated water management. We will explore how a combination of rainwater harvesting and stormwater management can transform a liability (flooding) into an asset (water supply). The core of our proposed solution lies in decentralized water resources. We will detail the implementation of rooftop rainwater harvesting to recharge aquifers and the development of intelligent storm drains to capture and purify excess runoff. This not only mitigates flood risk but also enhances groundwater quality and quantity, reducing the city's dependence on external rivers. We will conclude with a roadmap for a water-resilient Delhi, emphasizing community involvement, policy reforms, and the use of innovative technologies to create a sustainable and equitable water future. 💧
