资源简介:
**Overview**
This data package includes information on demographics, prevalence of cigarette smoking, tobacco use, exposure to second-hand smoke, smoking cessation and training received regarding patient counselling on smoking cessation techniques. It also comprises of the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) - a school-based survey that collects data on students aged 13–15 years and is intended to enhance the capacity of countries to design, implement, and evaluate tobacco control and prevention programs.
**Description**
Global Health Professions Student Survey (GHPSS) was first developed by the World Health Organization (WHO), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) to collect information on health profession students (e.g. medical, nursing, dental and pharmacy) cross-nationally using a consistent methodology. It uses a common methodology and core questionnaire to systematically monitor health professions students' tobacco use and track trends over time in tobacco-related knowledge, attitudes, behaviours and environmental influences. This research is also about training the health professionals that how different methods can lead to reduce the tobacco use among people and their usefulness in the long run.
The Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) uses a standardized methodology for constructing the sample frame, selecting schools and classes, and processing data. Funding for the GYTS has been provided by the CPHA, National Cancer Institute (NCI), United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF), and the WHO — Tobacco Free Initiative (TFI). This survey is composed of 56 "core" questions designed to gather data on the following seven domains. The questionnaire also allows countries to insert their own country-specific questions: i). Knowledge and attitudes of young people towards cigarette smoking, ii). Prevalence of cigarette smoking and other tobacco use among young people, iii). Role of the media and advertising in young people’s use of cigarettes, iv). Access to cigarettes, v). Tobacco-related school curriculum, vi). Environmental tobacco smoke (ETS)vii). Cessation of cigarette smoking.
**Benefits**
- useful for doctors, medical health planners, people who use tobacco, psychological and behavioral therapists.
- global tobacco surveillance system database is available on centers for disease control and prevention website in raw form, whereas a jsl customer gets it in clean and normalized form ready to use in one place and create his own custom reports.
- easy to comprehend for the customers who are unfamiliar with the medical terminologies as all abbreviated terms are replaced with full form, the centers for disease control and prevention original datasets which are full of abbreviations.

**Data Engineering Overview**
**We deliver high-quality data**
- Each dataset goes through 3 levels of quality review
- 2 Manual reviews are done by domain experts
- Then, an automated set of 60+ validations enforces every datum matches metadata & defined constraints
- Data is normalized into one unified type system
- All dates, unites, codes, currencies look the same
- All null values are normalized to the same value
- All dataset and field names are SQL and Hive compliant
- Data and Metadata
- Data is available in both CSV and Apache Parquet format, optimized for high read performance on distributed Hadoop, Spark & MPP clusters
- Metadata is provided in the open Frictionless Data standard, and its every field is normalized & validated
- Data Updates
- Data updates support replace-on-update: outdated foreign keys are deprecated, not deleted
**Our data is curated and enriched by domain experts**
Each dataset is manually curated by our team of doctors, pharmacists, public health & medical billing experts:
- Field names, descriptions, and normalized values are chosen by people who actually understand their meaning
- Healthcare & life science experts add categories, search keywords, descriptions and more to each dataset
- Both manual and automated data enrichment supported for clinical codes, providers, drugs, and geo-locations
- The data is always kept up to date – even when the source requires manual effort to get updates
- Support for data subscribers is provided directly by the domain experts who curated the data sets
