Airborne biodiversity in Sweden 2006 and 2007

Ground level air has been collected weekly for a period of 50 years in Sweden through air filter stations. The DNA sequences from the filters from two stations over two years, for every other week have been obtained through PCR and Illumina sequencing. The two stations are the ones in Kiruna and Ljungbyhed, which are located in northern respective southern Sweden. The samples that were sequenced are from years 2006 and 2007. Two blank filters were also prepared and used as controls. The marker genes used were 16S rRNA (V4) in bacteria, the Internal transcribed spacer (ITS) in fungi, and rubisco (rbcL) in the chloroplast genome of plants.
