Ribosome profiling of Leishmania donovani

We have applied ribosome profiling technology to the human pathogen, Leishmania donovani. When combined with RNA-seq and spliced leader mapping, we were able to definitively identify the translation start site(s) for most protein-coding genes, including several that had not been previously identified. We were also able to reveal changes in translational efficiency that occurred during the first 48 hours during promatistigote-to-amastigote differentiation in axenic culture.
